Jordan’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation meets Spanish Secretary of State for International Cooperation

(Amman – 2 February 2026) – Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan today met with Spain’s Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Ms. Eva Granados Galiano, as part of her official visit to the Kingdom.

The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Jordan and Spain, in light of the elevation of relations to the level of an "advanced partnership,” endorsed through the signing of the Strategic Partnership Declaration last June. This step reflects the depth of the historic ties between the two countries. Toukan underscored the importance of this partnership in advancing developmental and economic cooperation, praising Spain’s role as a development partner for Jordan across several priority sectors.

The meeting also addressed ongoing preparations for a new Country Partnership Framework for cooperation (2026–2029), aligned with the second executive programme of Jordan’s Economic Modernisation Vision, particularly in the fields of health, water, justice, youth, women’s economic participation, and other areas.

For her part, Secretary of State Granados Galiano affirmed Spain’s commitment to further strengthening economic and development cooperation with Jordan, and expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s pivotal role in promoting regional stability. She commended the reforms being implemented in Jordan and the constructive collaboration with national institutions.

Concluding the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of convening the forthcoming Jordanian–Spanish Joint Cooperation Committee, as a means of translating the strategic partnership into tangible programmes and projects that benefit both countries.
