Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Meets ESCWA Executive Secretary to Discuss Cooperation and Support for Sustainable Development Programs

(Amman – 28 July 2026) Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, held talks with Dr. Rania Al Mashat, United Nations Assistant Secretary General and Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), during her official visit to the Kingdom.

The meeting explored avenues for strengthening cooperation between the Government of Jordan and ESCWA, alongside a review of ongoing technical assistance projects currently provided to the Kingdom in social development, statistics and data, digitization, and artificial intelligence. Minister Toukan highlighted ESCWA’s role in supporting member states by delivering technical expertise and capacity building initiatives that accelerate economic and social growth and advance the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. She also commended Jordan’s appreciation for the strong partnership with ESCWA.

Discussions also addressed future cooperation priorities between the two sides, in alignment with the objectives of Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision, thereby reinforcing national efforts in sustainable economic development.
